Hello, My husband and I adopted one of the little red healer puppies a month or so ago and we wanted to update you on her progress. She was originally named Sapphire but we renamed her Gertie. She has completely come out of her shell the last month and looks and acts like a brand new dog. She now has a big brother who she is absolutely in love with and does not like being parted from. She is such a love and nuzzles like no other dog we have meet. She is a wonderful dog and we are so happy to have her in our family. I have attached photos from the holidays of Gertie and her brother Garvey.
Thank you!
The Barry'sShe is doing FANTASTIC, and is the best little dog ever. The family loves her and she loves her family. Here is a pic of her, after she was all shaved down. You can see her little face and tiny ears. Also one of her sleeping with her buddy. Thanks again! Sincerely,
The Vietri FamilyWe adopted Felix on 11/15/08 and renamed him Benny. Clink on the above link to see his picture.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all the wonderful people at the Humane Society.
John & Elaine HudakHi Folks, We adopted Scout & Spook several weeks ago. They've integrated into our pack nicely. Neither was particularly well housebroken, but of the two Scout has caught on better. Spook has been renamed "Dobby" (after the house elf from Harry Potter who tries to help but usually ends up generating chaos). He and our beagle, Buddy, are already best pals, spending hours a day ramming around with each other. They are both love sponges, vying for lap space and sleeping in our bed. See attached photos.
Cheers & Thanks,
Tina & JeremyHi! We adopted a cat from you this past weekend at the Petsmart in Vestal. I'm attaching a couple of pictures for your "happy endings" page, and the story is below:
One night a couple weeks ago my husband came home practically shaking, saying "you have to help me have impulse control, I am in love with this cat!" Not being known for impulse control when it comes to animals (or much else), I looked at him and laughed. "It's a Siamese mix that we saw at the Petsmart. I've never seen such a beautiful cat," he said. "So, go tell them you'll get it," I said, surprised at the intensity of his feelings. My two daughters were very excited, too. So he went back immediately, but the Humane Society personnel wisely told him that Prince should meet our Akitas first to see if they would get along, and that as Prince had had an upper respiratory infection recently, they wanted to make sure he was okay.
Many other people were looking at Prince when we went to see him, but we knew he was the cat for us. We got our names put on the list of interested parties, and waited a week to hear back. The following Friday, we brought in the more aggressive Akita to meet him. Prince was great with all the people we saw him with, including reaching out of his cage to pat one of my daughters on the nose, and his social skills extended to the Akita, Isak, whom he went up to as if to say, "hello, you're a very big cat. Will you play with me?" Isak responded well, and they ended up kissing and Prince played with her tail.
He was approved to come home with us the next day. When he did, it seemed as if he'd always lived here. He found chairs he loved to hang out in, both dogs found him interesting, definitely someone new to play with, and both girls took turns having him chase his new toys. He slept right next to me right away, and the trace of his sickness you could see in his eyes has completely gone. He is very much part of our family, fitting utterly seamlessly into our routines. We love him! What a wonderful idea to partner with Petsmart-we never would have seen hi m, or ever considered getting a cat, if my husband hadn't seen him when he went there with the girls to kill some time. Welcome, Prince!
Dear Humane Society workers:
Enclosed please find some pictures of our dog, Einstein (Max), who we adopted from you a few years ago. "Ein" is the most enthusiastic and loving dog we've ever met!! He loves playing with his "sister" Gigi the cat, they chase eachother around the house all day and then nap together. Sometimes they even share toys, as you can see here. He loves to be around us all of the time, and insists on being in the middle of all happenings in his house. We have so much fun with him and love him so much. I feel so lucky that we found him and hate to think of his life before we found eachother. He is my first dog and a wonderful and exciting dog to be around. Thank you for taking care of him until we found him!
Liz & Dan
